| The Second National Communication
provides a report on the Netherlands'
progress towards meeting all its commitments under the UNFCC.
The Third National Comunication
has been available since the beginning of March 2002. |
| In 2004 DG Tren of CEC assessed the state of development of renewable energy in the Member States of the European Union, and documented country profiles for all 25 MS {COM(2004)366 final}. In the Dutch country profile you find information on the current status and potentials of all Renewable Energy Sources and on the main supporting policies on national level. |
The Netherlands
Agency for Energy and the Environment (Novem) manages many
national and international governmental programmes aimed at:
The mission of Novem is to stimulate sustainable development of society, within the Netherlands as well as abroad, in the field of energy and the environment. |
| EnergieNed is a
broad-based federation for all companies playing an active part in the
production, transport, trade or supply of gas, electricity or heat in the
Netherlands. The federation represents the interests of its member companies. Those interests are considerable and wide-spread throughout Dutch society. EnergieNed is the point of contact for governmental bodies, political parties and pressure groups, such as environmental lobbies. EnergieNed maintains a dialogue at the national level with these stakeholders. About what, exactly? Well, as all businesses do, EnergieNed's members want to have enough opportunities to be able to continue to do business. Conditions in Dutch and European markets must be equal for all players. |

| IMAGE 2 - An Integrated Assessment Model for Global Environmental
Change by RIVM (National Institute of Public Health and the Environment) IMAGE 2 is a dynamic integrated assessment model for global change. Scientifically speaking, IMAGE 2 is aimed at evaluating the relative importance of major processes, interactions and feedbacks in the society-biosphere-climate system, and estimating sources of uncertainty in such a complex system. The policy goals are to provide: i) a dynamic and long-term perspective on consequences of global change; ii) insight into the impacts of global change and iii) a quantitative basis for analysing the effectiveness of various measures to address global change. The work on IMAGE 2 thus aims at linking scientific and policy aspects of global change to support decision-making. This objective has governed the design, development and applications of the model. IMAGE 2 shows three fully linked sub-systems: Energy-Industry (EIS), Terrestrial Environment (TES) and Atmosphere-Ocean (AOS). For more information on the IMAGE 2 project, please contact Rik Leemans (project leader), or Eric Kreileman (model support). |
