The Second National Communication provides a report on Sweden's progress towards meeting all its commitments under the UNFCC. The Third National Communication is also available meanwhile.

In 2004 DG Tren of CEC assessed the state of development of renewable energy in the Member States of the European Union, and documented country profiles for all 25 MS {COM(2004)366 final}. In the Swedish country profile you find information on the current status and potentials of all Renewable Energy Sources and on the main supporting policies on national level.
The duty of the Swedish Energy Agency is to implement the Swedish Government's policy of creating a long-term ecologically and economically sustainable energy system for the country.

Energy facts: The duties of the National Energy Administration include monitoring developments on the world's energy markets and providing the Government and Parliament with decision-making material in the form of analyses, evaluations and statistics. Some of this material is reproduced on this web site.

Energy Facts also includes information on Sweden's contingency planning for meeting the country's energy require-ments in the event of war or crisis situations. As the authority responsible for this contingency planning, the Administration constantly monitors the energy supply situation on various markets and assesses the potential effects of new technologies and market developments. Renewable energy sources, in the form of solar energy, wind and hydro power, are expected to play an important part in future energy supply. Energy Facts includes information on the development of future energy supply technologies.

The NEI (Nordic Energy Index) contains descriptions of ongoing and completed energy research, development and demonstration projects in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
